Music is a musical drama scripted, directed, and produced by Sia. The film is co-produced by Vincent Landay. Sia, Labrinth, and Craig DeLeon composed the music. Sebastian Wintero cranked the camera, and editing is by Matte Chesse, Curtiss Clayton, and Dana Congdon. Kate Hudson, Maddie Ziegler, Leslie Odom Jr., Héctor Elizondo, Mary Kay Place, Brandon Soo Hoo, Tig Notaro, Alexandria Lee, Beto Calvillo, Celeste Den, Luoyong Wang, Ben Schwartz, Juliette Lewis, Kathy Najimy, Henry Rollins, Parvesh Cheena, Blair Williamson, Braeden Marcott, Zander Ayeroff and Sia are in the cast.Â
Plot
Kazu is a drug dealer, and his friend Rudy helps her. She is estranged from her family and has a half-sister, Music, who is autistic. Millie is their grandmother, who cared for Music. After her death, Kazu had to guard her sister. Once, Zu was unable to control her sister and her neighbor, Ebo, helps her. Ebo is a boxer and teaches boxing to children. Ebo’s wife left him for his brother. Ebo helps Zu to take care of Music. However, she continues dealing with the drugs. Rudy reveals that Ebo has health issues. When Music gets sick, Zu couldn’t spend on her medications. So, she takes Music to an adoption center. But, she couldn’t leave her and go and hence retakes her. When Zu and Ebo decide to sing on a stage, Music stops them and begins to sing. The film is all about how Music sees the world.
Star Performance
Kate Hudson and Maddie Ziegler lived in the roles. Their performances are neat and beautiful. Leslie did a good job as Ebo. Although Mary Kay Place’s role comes in a limited screen time, she did a good job.
Analysis
The musical journey of Music is described in the film. How music connects everyone in this world is shown well. Even children with autism get connected with music and link their lives with music. The characterizations are good, and the actors are well picked. The makers had boldly attended to this concept and succeeded. The music and cinematography are appreciable.
